The ECE R129 i-Size regulation currently represents the most advanced European standard for the approval of children's car seats, designed to ensure even higher levels of safety during car transport. As of September 2024, the ECE R129 regulation has completely replaced the previous ECE R44, introducing stricter test criteria and classifying car seats based on the child's height rather than weight. Choosing an ECE R129 i-Size approved car seat means relying on a solution developed according to the latest European safety standards. This regulation was introduced to improve the protection of infants and children in the event of a frontal or side impact, reducing the risk of incorrect installation and increasing compatibility between the vehicle and the restraint system. The ECE R129 regulation develops in three main phases, which regulate different categories of car seats: Phase 1: car seats for children from 40 to 105 cm installable exclusively with the Isofix system; Phase 2: high-back booster seats for children from 100 to 150 cm; Phase 2: backless booster seats for children from 125 to 150 cm; Phase 3: car seats from 40 to 105 cm installable using the vehicle's seat belt. One of the most important aspects of the regulation concerns the Isofix system, which allows for direct anchoring of the car seat to the car chassis via dedicated connectors.
